Mandatory recycling rate: a rate applied to the quantity of goods released/imported by the producer that serves as the basis for calculating the quantity subject to mandatory recycling
※ Quantity subject to mandatory recycling = Quantity of products/packaging materials released (imported) in the current year (year of fulfilling the recycling obligation) x Mandatory recycling rate
- Notification period: Notice issued by the Minister of Environment prior to the year of fulfilling the recycling obligation (i.e. by the end of December in the previous year)
- Basis for calculation: Notice issued by the Minister of Environment, in consideration of the amount of products and packaging materials subject to EPR that have been released, the amount of recyclable resources that have been separately disposed of, recycling performance, recycling conditions, etc.
- Relevant laws and regulations: Article 22 (Calculation, Public Notification, etc. of the Mandatory Recycling Rate) of the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources
